Welcome to John B. Sliney Elementary School

Dear Sliney Families,

Welcome to another exciting school year! As I head into my eighth year here at Sliney, my heart is filled with immense pride and gratitude for this community. Each year, I am more excited than ever to witness the continuous growth of our school and to celebrate the unique "family" culture that makes Sliney such a joyful, inclusive, and supportive space.

This year, I am so proud to share that we will officially begin our Leader in Me journey, helping our students, staff, and school community discover their inner strengths, practice the 7 Habits in their daily lives, and grow as leaders.

As a District, we are also looking toward the future with the Master Facilities Plan. While this represents a significant future change for Sliney, our school community has always possessed an incredible, proven ability to navigate change together. Sliney's rich legacy is not defined by our building's walls, but by the deep relationships, collaborative heart, and inclusive spirit we cultivate here every single day. That is

a legacy we will proudly preserve and carry forward together.

With the future in mind, our team is focused entirely on the present. Our school culture remains deeply anchored by our STARS motto: Achieve Goals, Respect Each Other, and Strive to Be Our Very Best in everything we do. Our amazing teachers and staff work tirelessly every day, and I want to recognize their immense dedication, hard work, and love for our community.  Thanks to their daily commitment, we are prepared to make this current school year an exceptional, positive, and growth-filled experience for every single student.

To stay fully connected with our daily learning, weekly highlights, and upcoming school events, please ensure you are signed up and active on the ParentSquare app.

We look forward to growing, learning, and leading together with your family this year!

Yours truly,

Maria Clark, Ed.D.

Principal

Mission Statement

We are a joyful and inclusive learning community that values collaboration, a growth mindset, and lifelong learning for everyone.

Core Values

Learning is engaging, creative, and joyful, fostering curiosity and a love of learning.

  • All community members - teachers, students, families, and staff are empowered to share their voices and take ownership of their learning.

  • Strong, respectful relationships create a safe, inclusive, and supportive community.

  • We grow by embracing challenges, reflection, and continuous improvement.

  • We collaborate to uphold high expectations and continuously improve teaching and learning for ourselves, students, and the entire school community.

In practice, this means joyful classrooms, strong partnerships with families, student and staff voice in daily learning, and collaborative teams using evidence of learning and ongoing reflection to support the growth of all students.
